Kell Brook admits he's disappointed that he won't be fighting Amir Khan

Kell Brook admits Amir Khan has made a shrewd move in agreeing to fight Saul Alvarez and is still hopeful of a clash in the future.

Khan (31-3-KO19) and IBF world welterweight champion Brook (35-0-KO24) had been involved in lengthy negotiations with a view to clashing at Wembley in the summer, but Khan has signed up elsewhere.

The Bolton fighter, 29, has agreed to take on WBC world middleweight champion 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1-KO32) at a catchweight of 155lbs in Las Vegas on May 7.

As much as I'd like to say 'get lost', with the demand from fans all over the world, they'll still want to see that fight.
Kell Brook

Reacting to the news, Brook told Sky Sports News HQ: "I don't know if he's cashing himself in or what but I don't believe he thinks he can win. That's me being honest. He'll lose in that fight.

"They can always come back down and fight the welterweights of the world. If he'd got in with me, which we all expected, I'd definitely end his career.

Khan says he's looking to make history by beating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez

"Him fighting at middleweight against Canelo, he can always say 'the guy was too big for me. I thought this and I thought that.' He can come up with that and drop back down so it's win-win for Khan I think.

"It's [Khan v Brook] always going to be on the table. It's a good move he's done. With the demand we still have to sit down and talk. As much as I'd like to say 'get lost', with the demand from fans all over the world, they'll still want to see that fight."
