Phil Taylor has been handed an opening match against exciting Australian Corey Cadby as the 'Power' targets his fourth straight title in the Sydney Masters.
The defending champion is yet to suffer a defeat since the tournament began three years ago, but faces a potentially tricky match against the 21-year-old Cadby, who has won seven tournaments on the Australian circuit this year.
"It's really exciting for me," said Cadby. "Phil's a legend and it will be great to play him, and I'll be giving it everything I've got. To be playing in this tournament is a huge opportunity for me and I can't wait."
The first-round draw has also produced two exciting encounters, with Peter Wright pitted against home favourite Simon Whitlock, while Raymond van Barneveld comes up against Kyle Anderson, another Australian.
Anderson has climbed the rankings with improved results in British based events, but is glad to return to his home country.
"It's great to be back in Australia and there's a job to be done now," said Anderson. "I'm in the top 32 now and there's a lot more to come from me. I'm playing well enough to make more strides in the game."
World No 1 Michael van Gerwen starts his title challenge against New Zealand No 1 Cody Harris and world champion Gary Anderson will take on David Platt.
