New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis has been released on a non-monetary bond after turning himself in to Pittsburgh police on Friday.

Revis was the subject of a Thursday arrest warrant in the Pennsylvania city and he faces four felony charges - two for assault and one each for robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

The 31-year-old is also facing a misdemeanour charge of making terroristic threats and will attend a preliminary hearing on February 23.

His court appearance came five days after an incident in Pittsburgh which saw police called to a scene where two men had been knocked unconscious - they later told police they were punched by Revis and another man.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league would investigate the matter, leaving open the possibility of discipline under the personal conduct policy.
