Beautifully-bred filly To Eternity is finished for the season - despite having shaped with such promise at York last week.

The three-year-old daughter of Galileo, trained by John Gosden, caught the eye in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes over a mile and a half when she finished second to the potentially high-class Abingdon.

To Eternity still holds an entry in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot, but she will instead take a lengthy hiatus in anticipation for what could be a profitable year in 2017.

Hugo Lascelles, racing manager for her owner-breeder Lady Bamford, said: "She's a progressive filly, but the winner looked very good at York.

"She's a lightly-framed filly and has had four quite quick runs, so we will put her away now and bring her back into training next year.
