Bryan Cooper hopes to get the green light to return at Down Royal next weekend when he sees his doctor on Tuesday.

Gigginstown House Stud's retained rider has been out since October 8 after he sustained a fracture to his right arm at Fairyhouse.

He has missed plenty of winners in his short time away, including the impressive chasing debut of Identity Thief, but will have plenty to look forward to next weekend, when he could have to choose between Don Poli and Valseur Lido in the JNWine.com Champion Chase.

"It is obviously frustrating when you get injury upon injury, but that's simply part and parcel of being a jockey," Cooper told 32Red.

"There is no point in getting down about it, you just have to deal with it and concentrate on getting back get in A1 shape as soon as possible.

"I am going to see the doctor on Tuesday to see what the latest is on my fractured right arm and my X-rays, and I'd like to think it is a touch better than 50-50 that I get the all-clear to resume race-riding.

"Hopefully, that is not just wishful thinking on my part.

"I have kept very fit, and feel very strong and well in myself, and I have targeted the Down Royal meeting next weekend for my return ever since I got the injury falling from Ball D'Arc at Fairyhouse earlier this month."
