Kalane gave first-season trainer Amy Murphy her biggest success to date when taking a Listed Mares' Chase at Doncaster.
The Newmarket-based handler had her first winner just last month and has now had a total of six victories under all codes.
With four horses being late withdrawals as the going dried out to good, only five went to post for the extended two-and-a-half-mile contest with Kalane, owned by Murphy's father Paul, sent off the 4/6 favourite.
A faller in this race 12 months ago when trained by Charlie Longsdon, Kalane again made a bad mistake at the fifth fence with Jack Quinlan doing well to stay in the saddle.
Viky Du Reponet made the running until the seventh-last fence where Kalane took over, but she was challenged and headed three from home by Colla Pier.
The Irish raider led to the final fence, but Kalane rallied in game fashion to regain the advantage on the run-in and score by five lengths.
Murphy was concerned about the ground and gave the matter much thought before giving Kalane the go-ahead to run.
"I'm obviously delighted with her. It was touch and go whether we ran prior to the race," she said.
"I walked the track twice over before I made the decision. With it being her last season, we thought we'd let her take her chance.
"I said to Jack if at any point he wasn't happy, bring her home and look after her. Jack said that although she wasn't at her best on the ground she handled it, so I'm delighted with her."
Murphy admitted she had not seen Kalane's early blunder.
"I'm terrible, I can't watch anything so I didn't actually see the mistake, but I was told it was awful!" she said.
"I'm delighted for Dad. He's put so much into the sport with the mares and keeping them in training. It's fantastic.
"When she retires at the end of the season she's going to be covered Sulamani.
"It's my biggest success. We've had six winners so far from about 20 odd runners. I'm got such a good team at home and I couldn't do it without them.
"Today was the main aim. It's not that she doesn't handle Cheltenham, I think she's better on flat, galloping tracks.
"We'll take her home and have a look at the programme book to see where we go next."
Earlier on the card, Paul Nicholls reached 100 winners for the season when Clic Work (7/4) took the Napoleons Casino & Restaurant Owlerton Sheffield Jackpot Chase under Sam Twiston-Davies.
