Sixty-one millimetres of rainfall from Monday to Friday has left the Merseyside circuit heavy, while overnight temperatures dipped to minus 1C.
But clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright was happy with conditions and brought forward an intended 8am precautionary inspection to give the National Hunt fixture the go-ahead.
A statement issued by Haydock read: "Forecast sleet showers this morning, but brighter this afternoon.
"Inspection brought forward and passed. Racing goes ahead."
Haydock's seven-race card is due to feature four Grade Twos, including the Peter Marsh Chase at 3.15pm.
Newcastle abandoned
The jumps meeting at Newcastle on Sunday has been abandoned because of snow on the track.
Clerk of the course James Armstrong was resigned to the inevitable on Saturday morning when an 8am inspection found "minimal improvement".
And with temperatures forecast to stay below freezing, the decision was made to abandon the fixture.
Armstrong said on Twitter: "Racing on Sunday, Jan 21 @NewcastleRaces has been abandoned due to snow. Further freezing temps (minus 3C) & possible snow f'cast again tomorrow."
