Trainer Charlie Appleby feels Latharnach 'would not look out of place' in the Breeders' Cup Turf Mile at Santa Anita.

Twice a winner as a juvenile a couple of seasons ago, the Iffraaj colt ran three fine races in defeat in 2015, most notably beating all bar Gleneagles in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

However, after finishing third at Goodwood the following month, Latharnach was sidelined for well over a year.

He made an encouraging return to action when landing the Listed Guisborough Stakes at Redcar earlier this month and while he will have far more on his plate in California, Appleby is keen to let him take his chance.

"He will head out to America for the Breeders' Cup Turf Mile if he gets in. He is just on the edge of getting a run," said the Newmarket handler.

"He has come on for that last run a good deal having had 420 days off. He has come out the race well.
