Verdict

Very little to go on here but favourites have won three of the last four runnings of this race and it is likely that former French Listed flat campaigner AMERICAN TRILOGY will be straight enough to justify the market leader's tag, while Make Haste and Risk are among others with chances. The selection will want further than this in time, but this is a good start in a race where the field is likely to ensure a good pace. Cut in the ground suits, he has a touch of class with a Listed flat win to his name, and there is no doubt that he will be well prepared for this. Make Haste also stays 1m 4f on the flat, so should get further than this over the sticks. He had a couple of runs over hurdles last backend and was perhaps too highly tried, but at this level he can probably show up well. Safari Journey should be at home over trip and ground and can come on for a pipe opener last month, while Risk is a very interesting prospect for a trainer who can ready them to win first time. Best Horse will surely improve under the tutelage of Ferdy Murphy after showing up well in the French provinces, while Berkeley Castle needs to show more than at Towcester, and we'll side with American Trilogy.
