A competitive field goes to post for the first on the card with many in with chances on their best form including Mighty Montefalco Cavaliere and Gastornis and we will take a chance on the last named. The gelding from the Mick Easterby yard showed improved form through out last year culminating in a win at Wetherby when defeating Smith's Landing. He is sure to have strengthened up through the winter and with Tom Greenalll taking off a handy seven pounds he will not be far away with conditions in his favour. Il Cavaliere rates= the main danger he is fit from the flat and the booking of Tony Dobbin catches the eye but he has never won over a trip this far before so for that reason he is opposed on this occasion. Mighty Montefalco is also worthy of respect now he returns to hurdles on a fair mark. The seven year old has been chasing of late without much enthusiasm and if the return to hurdles rejuvenates him he will not be far away. Of the remainder. Wee Danny is in the form of his life and will like the ground but he is rising in the weights and this is much more competitive than the races he has been running in of late. Ballybough Rasher is from a shrewd yard and is worth noting in the market but we are happy to stick with Gastornis.
