Verdict

An impossible-looking handicap to end proceedings. Distant Past is upped 5lb for winning at Leicester in a race in which Top Boy finished third and Dungannon was a close-up sixth. The latter likes it here and is worth a market check while Shamshon is starting to look well treated and should figure if the rains stay away. My Name Is Rio, Union Rose and Waseem Faris are others to consider while Shipyard was backed off the boards at Doncaster two runs ago but was drawn on the wrong side – dropping back to 5f won't harm his cause. DUTCH MASTERPIECE won the Rous Stakes on this card last year when rated 99. He's dropped to a mark of 93 having failed to score since but there was some encouragement in his latest run at Haydock, when just behind Waseem Faris, and Hector Crouch takes off a valuable 5lb once again today.
