In depth

Verdict

A wide-open handicap but it would be no surprise to see Imphal in the firing-line again as he seeks a fifth victory of the campaign. He was a good second on this track two runs ago, despite being hampered. Sirobbie does his winning at Uttoxeter but ART OF DIPLOMACY has proved his versatility by winning at Ludlow and Catterick this season and his stamina could come into play again today with a strong pace almost guaranteed. He has gone up 10lb, however, whereas Bean In Trouble is well treated on past form. Smurphy Enki tries a new trip while the mare Wynn House isn’t really built to carry big weights with the maiden Grosvenor Court preferred of Alan King’s two runners. Guerlain De Vaux defends an unbeaten record over timber and remains unexposed with Atakan and Grand Lord other possibilities nearer the foot of the weights.
