Frederick Engels was the first favourite in eight years to land this 12 months ago and the race produced a 100/1 winner in 2008. Shocks aren't uncommon, therefore, and we fancy we might see a big run from HOTOTO, who only won a small race at Ayr last time but is on an upward curve. An earlier second to Cay Verde over C&D on soft ground was franked when the winner comfortably beat Dylanbaru in a Listed contest at the Curragh last month. Cay Verde's trainer Mick Channon runs the hat-trick-seeking Bungleinthejungle and easy York winner Pay Freeze and both have claims while Lyric Ace, already successful at Leicester and Kempton, looks the best of Richard Hannon's trio. Haydock winner Cosmic Chatter is speedily-bred and may be the pick of the remainder ahead of Leicester scorer Smoothtalkinrascal and Epsom third Liber.
