In depth

Verdict

Harambe won the Greatwood at Cheltenham last month ahead of Monsieur Lecoq and Quoi De Neuf with Zanza, Countister and Mohaayed among the also-rans. The latter did win this last year and is back on the same mark but Countister was possibly the one to take out of that contest as she needed the run, only her second since finishing third in last season’s County Hurdle. Nicky Henderson also runs Newbury second French Crusader and he appears to have the beating of Crooks Peak on the form book. Whoshotthesheriff might appreciate the drop back in trip having looked likely to win over 2m3f at Haydock last time but UMBRIGADO is another for whom a shorter distance should be ideal. The David Pipe entry, still unexposed, ran well for a long way over 3m at Haydock and will get a strong pace here with Not So Sleepy in the line-up. Paul Nicholls runs a couple of four-year-olds but Scaramanga and Tamaroc Du Mathan face stiff tasks.
