Verdict

Scottish Stage is the pick over Reform Act, with Bunood and Quenched just a few more in with claims. This really is up for grabs, but the narrow vote goes to Scottish Storm who bids to put her Goodwood flop to rest. The trainer will be the first to admit that she just did not stay 14 furlongs at the Sussex track, and she is better judged on her run in the Irish Oaks in which she finished second to Alexandrova. There is nothing wrong with that form at all, the latter going on to capture the Yorkshire Oaks, so it will be a surprise if Scottish Stage does not go close. Reform Act has been plying her trade in Listed company, but does line up in form, while Bunood ran a fine second to Anna Pavlova in the Galtres Stakes at York and is worth a crack at this Group race. Quenched was behind Anna Pavlova in the Park Hill and so should be held by Bunood, but John Gosden has his team in fine form. Guilia and Novalarra have to improve, but then fillies often do, so neither can be ruled out of a decent performance, but Scottish Stage is back at her best trip, and has the form to oblige.
