        Verdict

A wide open contest in which many have chances and an event where jockeyship is all important. Cryfield won this race last year and he is well in on his best form but he has become a shade disappointing. Lygeton Lad won an amateur event in good style last time out and again has a top lady booked. He could go well despite rising in the weights. Arpeggio is from a stable which is on the crest of a wave and he could go well, although his best form is with slightly more cut in the ground. Bint Royal has been in cracking form of late in lower grade handicaps but despite a risen grade could still go well off a feather weight. Taranaki is now back on a winning mark and will appreciate the step back to seven furlongs, having run over six the last twice. The selection, however, is Barrantes, who ran well in defeat behind a well handicapped rival at Newmarket and should improve for a return to this trip.
