Verdict

The betting may be of some help in a field of newcomers though no favourite has obliged in the last 10 years. Judged on future entries both ETAAD and Reaffirmed must have shown plenty of ability at home if engagements in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September are anything to go by. The former wears his owners first colours ahead of Makhfar and gets the speculative vote with John Hills' yard in fine form. Piping Rock is a half-brother to former stablemate and Group 3 winner Middle Club while Beatabout The Bush can count the prolific Rocket Rob among his winning relatives.
