In depth

Verdict

Bankable can blitz this big field although Arthur's Edge, Alpes Maritimes and Novikov will form part of many short lists. Luca Cumani's charge was noted last term as being a likely improver for a winter on his back and having caught the eye at Newcastle and Ascot, an 8lb rise for that last success could be workable if he has strengthened up. Arthur's Edge has been kept busy over the winter on the all-weather. He was visually impressive when making all at Wolverhampton. Novikov had a bad day at the office at Windsor. Faster ground will suit. Alpes Maritimes had a few names called throughout last year. While he can hardly be called a reformed character, he appears to be a little more in love with the game these days. The Snatcher won well at Bath but consistency was never his strong suit in the past and this is a much hotter race. Red Somerset is likely to trade at bigger odds than his form suggests due to unfashionable connections. He is at his best on today's surface. Nice To Know has improved dramatically since joining Gary Moore and can be anticipated to run her race. Habshan is a regular in events of this nature and shouldn't be too far away. Lord Theo didn't do a lot wrong at Yarmouth last time out and appears helpfully handicapped at present. Ainama is watched in the market. Many plausible chances on paper but Bankable promises plenty this term and we think that he can get his campaign off to the best possible start here.
