        Verdict

Blue Maeve, Viewforth and Rancho Cucamonga are the three that make most appeal and our confident selection is for Blue Maeve. Backers never go far wrong when supporting sprinters in form and the six-year-old certainly showed himself to be in good heart when making all at Pontefract. Drawn 11, there is an obvious chance to snatch the rail and attempt to make all again. Viewforth ran a creditable race under a welter-burden when last seen at Ayr and should go well again. The rider dropped his reins close home although he was probably second best despite this unfortunate episode. Rancho Cucamonga had a rare off-day at Southwell but is much better than that bare form suggests. Supporters should expect to see him flying home at the finish. Strawberry Patch won a Musselburgh handicap over five furlongs earlier in the season but has struggled since and might not be quite as good as he once was. Stellite is markedly dropped in trip while High Voltage, who won off a mark of 92, has lost the plot of late and a recent last of 14 at Catterick would scarcely inspire confidence. Blue Maeve receives a confident recommendation.
