Verdict

CAST IRON CASEY appeals as a solid choice on these terms. Watch My Back and Medicinal are others worth bearing in mind. The last named has been a touch frustrating of late and, having been hit with a 10lb rise after winning at Haydock last November, the handicapper appears to have his measure for the time being. He needs everything to fall into place for him today. Watch My Back is a progressive sort and is developing into a chaser to follow. Ferdy Murphy knows the time of day with animals of this type, so buoyant support in the betting ring would be a very persuasive factor. However, Cast Iron Casey is also on an upwards curve and, given the likes of Mister Mcgoldrick and Calatagan now look a shade of better days, Peter Montieth's charge can lead the challenge from the new order.
