      Verdict

      MAJOR MAGPIE is selected to land it off a 3lb higher mark than his Pontefract victory last time out. Although he had shown his best form at the Yorkshire venue in the past, he won in the style of a horse that should be capable of scoring again. Many of the selection's rivals are exposed, most notably Goodbye Mr Bond who is versatile with regard to ground conditions but looks plenty high enough in the weights while My Paris, who could grab a solo on the front end here, has not scored in 15 months but hails from a yard who have excelled this season with others cast-offs. Supercast is another that appears plenty high enough in the weights and Major Magpie is given the vote. (John McDonnell)
