Pearl King is preferred to Southern Regent and Little Lu in a competitive handicap. There should be more to come from the Hobbs runner who has won six of the fourteen races that he has contested over fences and hurdles. He has been well placed by his canny trainer but proved that he has the scope to win a big prize when finishing fifth in the Swinton in May and is sure to have been primed to run a big race. Katies Tutor has taken the inevitable hike in the weights following his valuable success at Market Rasen whilst Sporazene never entirely convinces these days. Nortonthorpe Lad has been running really well of late but needs to pull out a bit more in this company whilst rain would put paid to Distiller's chances. Southern Regent is another that needs to take a big step forwards but he's lightly raced and the Indian Derby winner probably has the scope to do so. Little Lu has won her last two starts impressively and an 8lb rise for her latest success may not be enough to stop Alan Swinbank's mare from running a big race. The vote, though, goes the way of Peal King.
