In depth

Verdict

A wide open contest gets proceedings under way and many would have chances on their best form however the principals look to be Maiful, Barton Gate L'Oiseau and Gracilis and the vote goes to Maiful. The selection gets all the weight for age allowances and was a good second behind King Eider last time a reproduction of that effort would make him hard to beat Barton Gate rates the main danger he has been in good form of late and was a fair third behind Spring Pursuit and this looks easier but he may struggle under his double penalty. Gracilis was a fair sort on the flat and is sure to have been well schooled for this his hurdling debut so is worth noting in the market. L'Oiseau is from a shrewd yard and showed improved form to be third behind the highly regarded Mone'ts Garden he could run well at a price but in a race where stakes should be kept to a minimum we are happy to stick with Maiful.
