Verdict

First Ballot looks to be going very much the right way and is an obvious choice to land this decent little novices' chase, while Undeniable and Full House should both go well enough. The selection may not seem well in at the weights judged on official ratings, but he still looks capable of beating Full House, who is officially weighted to land the contest. A hat-trick of recent wins were kicked off here over 2m 2f, and since then he has stepped up in trip successfully twice, at Newton Abbot and earlier this month at Stratford. He is likely to set the pace here, jumps well, and looks to be a very useful recruit to this sphere. Full House has stamina to prove here. A winner over two-and-a-half miles at Stratford in June, he put up a similar effort over two miles at Worcester last time out, and will like the ground. He does have the tendency to make the odd mistake though and that could find him out. The one that could give the selection most to do could well be Undeniable, who sluiced up at Uttoxeter on his second start over fences, and is bred to stay and perform on the ground. Sue Smith continues to have winners and he should go well, but First Ballot is in tremendous form and is the one they all have to beat.
