In depth

Verdict

Princelywallywogan has progressed nicely of late and is taken to follow up his Folkestone win from 12 days ago. Patavium Prince and Jarvo also rate as leading contenders at this level, while Ready To Crown is an interesting one to note in the betting at longer odds. The last named started her racing career by winning a Huntingdon bumper but has subsequently shown an aptitude for the summer code. Today's trip will suit her well and a big run can be expected. Jarvo has a bit to prove under top weight but is in great heart just now; so cannot be confidently discounted. However, it is a little disconcerting that he burst a blood vessel at Wetherby last month. Patavium Prince has been on the premises several times at this sort of level and it is surely a matter of time before another race comes his way. Still, he is hardly a prolific winner (1 from 35 previous starts), so it may be best to play each-way where he is concerned. Therefore, we turn to Princelywallywogan as the best option on this occasion. The John Harris-trained selection won with a bit in hand at Folkestone and, from only 2lb higher in the weights, he has hardly been punished for that success. Pat Cosgrave renews the acquaintances with the six-year-old and the partnership is fancied to be very hard to beat in the opener.
