In depth

Verdict

Another very poor contest where it is difficult to name a winner, however Avertaine has shown enough to get our vote, with Soul Provider and Roving Vixen the likely dangers. Gary Moore's filly has been contesting much better races on the all-weather and turf this season, including a competitive handicap at Beverley where she finished just four lengths behind Prairie Sun. If the drop in trip isn't a problem she should make a bold bid. Roving Vixen has given hints that she may be coming back to form and could get into a place. However the main threat appears to be Soul Provider, a model of consistency on the all-weather, who ran well enough in a decent Warwick maiden to suggest she can win a modest contest like this. Once again stakes should be kept to a minimum but Avertaine does hold strong claims.
