      Verdict

      SHERLOCK HOLMES (NAP) may have been expected to step-up markedly in class after last week's comfortable maiden victory at Ballinrobe but connections probably believe he needs more experience as that was only his second run. He could turn out to be a very useful stayer and this looks a good stepping-stone. Lindenhurst won this a year ago and has had just one outing over hurdles subsequently and that was in August. Conceding 6lb to his race-fit rival looks beyond him while the ex-French Time For Mabel has never raced on ground this quick. Strandfield Lady, the winner of 13 races, was in excellent form at this time a year ago and is now on a lower mark following a couple of moderate runs.
