Verdict

In a largely uncompetitive maiden, Dhakhirah is just preferred to Celtic Sapphire and Captain Clipper. The latter was slightly disappointing at Thirsk last time, but had earlier shaped reasonably well over this trip in handicap company behind the useful Arcalis and would have fair claims on that form. Celtic Sapphire was second at Carlisle last time, but has generally failed to live up to the promise she showed as a juvenile, so Alec Stewart's Dhakhirah looks the one to be on here. This Sadler's Wells filly produced an improved performance to finish second at Kempton in May, and ran very well on her handicap debut at Haydock when third behind Polly Plunkett. She is slightly better off with her rivals here than she would be in a handicap, should not be troubled by this step back up in trip and is fancied to get off the mark here under Willie Supple.
