There is a large turnout for the opening event, a selling handicap in which Leophin Dancer is taken to master Khuzdar and Nichol Fifty. Peter Hiatt places his small string really well, and with Lisa Jones able to claim five pounds, Leophin Dancer catches the eye after showing up well last time at Catterick where he was only beaten a short-head at the finish. Admittedly he is still a maiden but has plummeted to a lowly mark these days, and in addition is well over a stone better off with Khuzdar who was third at Catterick. The latter will again be fancied to reach the frame but should not beat the selection on theses terms. Nichol Fifty has not won since landing a nice touch for connections at Beverley last year, but on his old form is in with a major chance here. It is not an event to get too heavily involved in but Leophin Dancer may finally break his duck.
