In depth

Verdict

Call My Number, Luberon and Safari Mischief look the three to concentrate on in this maiden and the vote is given to Call My Number. The selection showed plenty of ability on his debut when a fair third behind Private Business at Goodwood. He looks to have plenty of scope for improvement and with the step-up in trip in his favour he looks the one to beat. Luberon is a well-bred colt from the Mark Johnston yard and he is related to 2-year-old winners, but he may just need the run on this his racecourse bow and unless the market offers any encouragement then he may be best watched. Safari Mischief was doing his best work at the finish when fifth behind Dream Fantasy at Chepstow last time. That was an improved effort from him so he looks to be going the right way and the extra furlong will be in his favour here so he could go well. Tim Easterby's yard are in good form and he sends a couple of newcomers to post here which are worth a second look in the market, but Mick Channon's colt Call My Number sets a fair standard for the rest here and is taken to score.
