After a couple of promising efforts Hurricane Floyd is taken to open his account for the campaign with Pulau Tioman and Tough Love looking the main dangers. The David Nicholls-trained gelding looked a sure fire future winner when third behind Aldora in the Spring Mile on his reappearance and, although the son of Pennekamp has failed to deliver in two starts since, there are valid excuses for those two subsequent displays. Trip and ground are ideal today and, off an all time low mark of 84, Hurricane Floyd looks worth a bet. Top weight Pulau Tioman has also slipped to an attractive mark and has to be respected with his stable hitting form, although his recent form is a concern. Tough Love, by comparison, comes into this in good heart but has gone up in the weights as a result and may now be in the grip of the handicapper. A similar comment applies to Michael Chapman's Mister Sweets and a bigger danger to the selection may be Mark Johnston's Pie High, who makes her first start of the campaign.
