In depth

Verdict

A very good pot has attracted some of the big guns here and Gold Hush is taken to land it for the sharp shooting of Sir Michael Stoute, whose Cabinet can also go very well, while Record Breaker is respected and Monte Alto and Six Of Diamonds can also get involved. Gold Hush put up a decent effort to win a Salisbury handicap from Pentatonic in June before failing to benefit from hold up tactics at Goodwood. The latter was apparently not her true running and from a good draw and with more positive tactics she can score back over this 10f trip. In truth there is little to choose between her and stablemate Cabinet, who stayed on strongly to win over a similar trip at Sandown last time. A repeat would make him very competitive here and improvement would mean he's a serious threat from a decent draw. Record Breaker drops back from 1m 4f for this but has won at anything between nine and 12 furlongs this season, so he should take that in his stride. Good ground suits and he is another drawn towards the inside and if things don't happen too quickly he can go close. Monte Alto is very consistent and has never finished out of the first three in eight starts. This looks his optimum trip and he continues to improve, so we are not ruling him out by any stretch of the imagination, while Six Of Diamonds is another specialist at the trip who has a fair bit going for him. A very interesting contest then and Gold Hush can strike gold.
