Makai is a rare runner in this grade for trainer Mark Johnston but he has been well held in this grade in each of his last two starts and marginal preference is for Sriology with Summer Bounty rated the best of the remainder. The selection has been running well without a great deal of luck this term and looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to resume winning ways off what appears a decent mark. Milk And Sultana is capable but the six-year-old may want a faster surface to show his best form these days, while Princely Ted has given little sign for encouragement in two starts since coming here from Spain. Musical Gift returns to the flat after a disappointing run over hurdles recently and is hard to back with any confidence, while Emperor Cat has been hard to win with but has had little help from the handicapper. The 10-year-old Summer Bounty has the ability to win but may struggle to give weight away to Sriology, who is taken to make the most of the drop in the weights and resume winning ways.
