tracked leaders, not clear run 2f out, switched right over 1f out, quickened to lead inside final furlong, readily
slowly into stride, close up in 4th, pushed along over 2f out, ridden and unable to quicken entering final furlong, went 3rd inside final furlong
taken to post early, led, ridden and edged left over 1f out, headed entering final furlong, soon weakened
Wotadoll has performed nicely enough on three starts this term but this does represent a step-up in class and WALK ON WALTER makes most appeal in a trappy little heat. The sole three-year-old in the line-up is progressing well for David Simcock and the distinct feeling last time was that he did not get home over a seventh furlong and moving back to this sprint trip will suit ideally. Mamillius goes very well around here and has an obvious claim, as does Lightning Charlie, not beaten at all far last time in a hot Goodwood handicap. If the latter produces his best, he rates a very potent threat to the selection.
Lightning Charlie 25-1 (9-3) Chased near side leaders, ridden 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 11th of 19, 4 1/4l behind Tommy G (9-3) at Goodwood 6f hcp (2) gf in Aug.

Walk On Walter (IRE) 9-2 (9-5) Prominent, led over 2f out, edged left over 1f out, headed and stayed on same pace inside final furlong, 4th of 8, 3l behind Quick Breath (9-3) at Chelmsford City 7f hcp (4) pol in Jul.
Wotadoll 11-1 (9-2) Off the pace in last trio, headway over 1f out, kept on inside final furlong, went 2nd near finish, not reach winner, 2nd of 10, 1 1/4l behind Look Surprised (9-7) at Windsor 5f hcp (5) gf in Aug.
