Verdict

Karl Burke's Triskaidekaphobia made all when landing his maiden at Thirsk earlier this month but may struggle to follow up under a penalty today and preference is for Countrywide Belle, who gets the vote over Indigo Nights. The last mentioned is trained by Nerys Dutfield so can be expected to improve further as most of the stable's youngsters do with experience. However, the daughter of Danehill Dancer is having her third run in quick succession so she may need more time. John Norton's Trombone Tom won well enough at Newcastle first time out but this looks tougher and of more interest may be Penny Whisper, who made a winning start to her career before being outclassed behind the useful Crocodile Bay at Doncaster. Chase The Ace showed promise on his debut and as Tim Easterby's juveniles normally improve considerably for their first outing, he is another to consider. The vote though goes to Countrywide Belle, who disappointed at Thirsk last time but had previously shown decent form when winning at Southwell and when chasing home Crocodile Bay at Doncaster, form on which she holds Penny Whisper. A reproduction of her earlier form should suffice for Kevin Ryan's filly.
