The three that head the weights, Smokin Beau, Kings College Boy and Ryedane are the shortlisted runners here, with Kings College Boy taken to come out on top in what looks to be a decent contest. After scoring at Newcastle and Catterick, Ryedane has gone up the handicap, running off a mark six pounds higher than his last success when third at Catterick. He can reach a place again. Despite carrying top weight here, Smokin Beau has been placed in high class handicaps at Goodwood recently with the handicapper once again taking no action. He has not won for over a year though and this track is totally different to the Sussex venue. With wins at Beverley and Hamilton to his credit this season, Kings College Boy has run well since, last time out running a close second to the progressive Blue Maeve, who has won again since. He runs off the same mark here and clearly does appreciate a stiff five furlongs which he has here. Kings College Boy gets the vote.
