      Verdict

Showboating won this consolation race last year and is 4lb lower in the weights now, though he hasn’t shown much this season. Twice a winner on the all-weather, WINDSOR CROSS was making his debut on Turf when fourth at Haydock. Paul Hanagan takes over the reins today and he’s a pound lower so, with improvement likely, the three-year-old gets the nod. Strong Steps was no match for Vive La Difference at Hamilton last week and probably needs to drop a few pounds but Fingal's Cave is starting to look well treated and has probably run better than form figures would suggest this year. Sultan Baybars is another who has tumbled down the weights but he hasn’t won since his debut on Polytrack in 2016. Paparazzi, Pursuing Steed and Zoravan are all upped in class.
