In depth

Verdict

Madiba has finally hit a bit of form and can go close off top-weight, but this may rest between Banningham Blaze and Oops, with the former just edging the decision. Tony Carroll's four-year-old reverts to a longer trip after performing with credit in contests at Warwick and Kempton. Her only effort at this distance was in early September when going down by a length to the in form Lazzaz, a repeat of that effort could be good enough here. Oops finished two lengths behind the selection in that contest and has since finished fourth over course and distance in a similar handicap. It is difficult to envisage this one reversing the form, but he could still manage to get into the places. Madiba has the assistance of Keiren Fallon and comes here in good heart following an excellent second behind the progressive Trilemma, he will be a big threat to all. Astromancer and Mercurious are two others to keep on the right side, but Banningham Blaze deserves to land another victory and this could be her chance.
