In depth

Verdict

Sir Don makes a quick reappearance after finishing six lengths behind stable companion Machinist on Monday and is expected to put up a better showing today, however Mickledor is in great heart at present and can continue the terrific run of her trainer and can beat Compton Plume. The daughter of Lake Coniston has made rapid progress in recent weeks. She landed a weak seller at Nottingham before stepping up in grade to beat some seasoned handicappers in an apprentice event at Musselburgh. With further progression on the cards she could be difficult to beat. Compton Plume finally lost his maiden tag over course and distance last time. He also has solid handicap form and can go well despite top-weight. Kings College Boy is another to consider here, although he is difficult to win with. All in all it is another tough contest to call but Mickledor is on the upgrade and is given the nod.
