In depth

Verdict

Sholto bolted up in what looked a competitive sprint on Easter Monday and is taken to follow up here, providing he has got over his exertions. He gets a penalty for that win at Warwick, but will have the same jockey on board here and should not be opposed while in this mood. Massey is a speedy sort who has been a revelation since dropped back to sprint distances and comes here on the back of a superb all-weather campaign. He has run well here in the past and has to be respected. Mister Mal would have a chance on his best form but would prefer easy ground, while Desraya would have to come into the reckoning if fit for his seasonal reappearance. Pays D'Amour and College Maid would both have excellent claims on their best form, and the latter particularly would have a good chance against the selection on a recent line through Mutassawar. However, Sholto looked to be an improving sort at Warwick, and gets a confident vote here.
