Verdict

Course specialist Coole Cody is 2lb lower than when landing this 12 months ago but has looked as though he’s been feeling his age this season. Shakem Up'Arry was sent off favourite for a premier handicap here on New Year’s Day but faded from the last to finish fifth. Midnight River was the winner that day, ahead of Stolen Silver. Il Ridoto finished fourth but took a big step forward in first-time cheekpieces to beat the useful Fugitif at the track on a return visit and will be thereabouts again if the aids work a second time. DATSALRIGHTGINO is still a novice but his form has a very solid look about it and a good run from Stage Star in the opener would boost his claims. So Scottish has had a break since running twice in this country in the autumn but is proving a much better chaser than hurdler but this trip looks too short for Escaria Ten while Frero Banbou has done all of his racing around 2m.
