In depth

Verdict

Darasim was a useful stayer on the level for Mark Johnston and, although he made hard work of beating some moderate rivals on his hurdling debut, there should be plenty more to come so he is taken to follow up at the main expense of Ostfanni and Swifts Hill. The last mentioned won a handicap off a mark of 96 last time and, while he is seemingly going the right way, this looks tougher under a penalty. Restart made a promising start to his hurdling career at Market Rasen earlier this month but probably needs to improve, while point-to-point recruit Hardybuck may find one or two of these too quick. Owen Brennan's Common Girl is a consistent performer and is entitled to be thereabouts although a bigger threat is likely to come from Hexham winner Ostfanni. With plenty of improvement to come from Darasim, he gets the vote to supplement his debut success.
