In depth

Verdict

This doesn't appear to be too competitive a maiden, and Kirk Wynd is fancied to land the spoils for the in-form Stoute yard, with Ravenglass and Banners Flying the main dangers. The selection raced twice as a juvenile, shaping really well when second at Haydock on the last of those starts, and as fitness can be virtually guaranteed the Selkirk filly is fancied to take this on her reappearance. Banners Flying did not race last year but showed ability when second on his belated racecourse debut at Nottingham, and Barry Hills' Zafonic colt should be suited by this extra two furlongs so is likely to be the main danger. Ravenglass is the pick of the older horses, and whilst he may not have as much scope as those already mentioned, he is rated 80 so will provide a good yardstick here. Fattaan and Moscow are a couple of nicely bred sorts from big yards but have failed to show much on the racecourse so far.
