In depth

Verdict

Colourful Life should see off Tigers Lair in a decent race for the time of year. Paul Nicholls' representative improved dramatically for the switch to the Ditcheat handler and he could not have been more impressive in two early season chases last year. The fact he can run so well fresh is a huge bonus and he should go well again. Tigers Lair undoubtedly needs fast ground to be at his best. He has made hay against small fields over the course of the summer but today is something of a leap into the unknown. The Bandit has more ability than his form figures demonstrate. Emma Lavelle would not be running him if she did not believe he had a chance but his backers have had to endure two miserable runs at the back end of last term. I Hear Thunder has taken time to come to hand for Bob Buckler and certainly appears to be making his mark. He is an out-and-out stayer and can make his presence felt if the principals fluff their lines. Parisian Storm ran a cracker at Market Rasen in September. He has gone up plenty of the weights but can give another fair account here. Torche possesses ability but needs soft ground. Colourful Life is selected on this occasion.
