Verdict

Fanlight Fanny, Popolo and Fly Time are the three for the shortlist here and Fanlight Fanny is taken to follow up on a promising debut. Fly Time is by far the most experienced runner in the field and although having hit the frame on several occasions can be taken on. Fly Time had every chance last time at Bath but faded in the closing stages and went down by seven lengths. Having had more runs than the remainder of the field, it is unlikely Fly Time will be capable of much further progression. After an encouraging run at Windsor first time out, Popolo was made favourite for an auction maiden contest at Newmarket, and although finishing third, went down by less than a length. That was a decent effort and Popolo can be prominent. Fanlight Fanny has had just the one run, at Windsor, but shaped with great credit, staying on well to be a good second behind the well backed favourite, Relkida. Fanlight Fanny was nibbled at in the market and a good run was expected. With further improvement to come, Fanlight Fanny can put that experience to good use.
