In depth

Verdict

HOLLIES PEARL looks the one to be on in this mares' race. Never out of the first three in five starts in bumpers, she completed a hat-trick when landing a competitive Listed event at the Grand National meeting at Aintree and should make her mark over hurdles. Brise Vendeenne's only appearance so far in the country was in a Listed hurdle at Aintree in December. She finished third that day and looked as though a longer trip would suit so shouldn't be discounted. Margaret's Rose disappointed in two runs in the spring, however, while Dear Lottie only racecourse experience so far was in a Fontwell bumper in which she finished a well-beaten fourth. Delagoa Bay, a winning stayer on the all-weather and a rare runner over jumps for Sylvester Kirk, is more interesting.
