Verdict

Viviani was beaten less than a length over 2m1f at Bath last week and has to go on the short-list here, though his stable is struggling for winners at present. Staying hurdler Haldibari is sure to relish this stamina test but Rawaaj, another winner over timber, doesn't look particularly well handicapped on the Flat and Ned Ludd will probably need this. Being the only three-year-old, BAND OF THUNDER gets all the allowances and can open his account at the sixth time of asking. Andrew Balding's gelding can reverse course running with Captain Oats over this extra quarter-mile and found 1m4f much too sharp at Newmarket last time.
