Verdict

Four of Mauricetheathlete's last five runs have been over this course and distance and he won in January off an 8lb lower mark, the same as when successful in this race 12 months ago. Martin Keighley's 10-year-old can be a tricky customer but amateur Nick Slatter knows him well and the partnership should be prominent again today. Rocknrollrambo may have a few pounds too much on his handicap debut but Great Gusto could feature if an outing over fences in January has blown away a few cobwebs. Rich Buddy and Billy Dutton have both won this term but SUPER VILLAN is more interesting. He's still a maiden but has come up against some smart performers in his career to date and his comeback fifth at Newbury suggests he retains plenty of ability.
