Verdict

It has taken racecourses a long time to discover the value of putting a decent race as the last on the card and they have been rewarded with a fascinating contest to close the card. Ajar looks likely to start a warm favourite following a closing hat-trick last term and could still be ahead of the handicapper. The ground and trip are ideal and he should be hard to beat despite needing a run to come to hand last term. Starting Again showed he had ability last year running well over this sort of distance on a number of occasions. He has shown he runs well fresh and may give the selection most to do. Devon View was showing progressive form before the season ended last year but on previous evidence looks as though he will need this first outing. Bush Park is capable on his day but lacks the consistency to be backed with confidence.
