Verdict

A tricky puzzle to close the card with a host of newcomers looking interesting but we'll side with experience in the shape of MIST CHANCES in preference to Amroth Bay and Pure Anticipation. Daryl Jacob rides this Irish raider who took second behind the useful Divvy back in the spring. Although well held in the end that effort did suggest a race may come the way of this four-year-old filly and the form looks stronger than that of the others with experience here, so the main danger may come from Andrew Balding's unraced Amroth Bay. AP McCoy is an eye-catching booking for the horse who is a rare runner under National Hunt rules for the yard. Pure Anticipation represents the emerging Tim Vaughan yard although this one will have to have improved markedly for her debut when finishing a well-beaten fourth of eight runners. That effort was on good to firm ground and there may be some improvement brought about by todays very different conditions as the filly's breeding suggests a bit of give may not go amiss. With fitness assured the four-year-old is bound to be popular but she surely must improve to take this contest. Victor Dartnall's Robbers Bridge is definitely worth a market check, the well-bred five-year-old having solid credentials and hailing from a yard that can ready a debut winner, whilst similar comments apply to Tafika from Paul Webber's stable, although the latter may want the ground a bit faster if he is to trouble the judge. A very trappy race where the market will offer clues but we'll take Mist Chances to go one better here.
